What to Say When a Fence Estimate Goes Quiet

Most fence companies quote once and stop. Here is the sequence that recovers the jobs sitting in your sent folder.

Silence is rarely a no

Homeowners get busy, wait on a partner, or are still collecting quotes. A quote with no answer is an open opportunity until the customer says otherwise.

A two-week sequence

  • Day 0: send the quote, then call to confirm it arrived and walk through it
  • Day 1: short text — 'any questions on the layout or the gate placement?'
  • Day 3: call, and leave a voicemail with one specific detail from the visit
  • Day 7: email with a photo of a similar job you completed nearby
  • Day 14: a close-out message — 'should I hold your spot on the schedule or close this out?'

Why the last message works

Giving the homeowner permission to say no gets more replies than another check-in. Plenty of those replies are actually a yes that just needed a deadline.

Log every touch

If it is not in the CRM, it did not happen. A shared record is what stops two people calling the same customer and stops good quotes falling off entirely.

We run this sequence for fence companies with a real person on the phone, so it happens on every quote instead of the ones you remember.
